Paraxylene (PX) is an essential aromatic compound primarily used as a raw material in the production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), polyester to produce synthetic fiber & textile, and the main components for manufacturing polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is widely applied in the production of plastic bottles, textile fibers, and packaging films. Refinery Unit Pertamina IV Cilacap can produce 270 KTA/year Paraxylene from Aromatic Unit (KPC, Kilang Paraxylene Cilacap) and Refinery PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama produce 780 KTA/year.
